Her favorite saying is:
“FAITH-FAMILY-FRIENDS”

My favorite part of the night was when Melissa was up in her new accessible room with her girlfriends, smiling, laughing and listening to loud music!  After all had gone home she said, with a big grin, "I'M SO HAPPY!"

Melissa shared with us that she had NEW MOVEMENT of her left foot the day of her homecoming!!!!!!!!!

Keep the prayers coming!
Melissa, we love you!  Continue your fight, never give up.  Remember, SOMEONE is holding your hand!

12/4 Melissa will finally be discharged from the hospital!!  She will be going back to Magee Rehab on Friday!

WE HAVE REASON TO CELEBRATE...WOOOHOOO!!!!!
MELISSA HAS HAD BABY MOVEMENTS OF BOTH HER LEGS, ON COMMAND,SHOWING THE POSSIBILITY OF POTENTIAL INCREASED MOVEMENT OF HER LEGS!!!

PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!!!!!!

This movement qualifies her for LOCOMOTOR TRAINING which simulates walking on a treadmill in a standing position.

The Locomotor Training Program includes the use of the body weight supported treadmill training in which participants are placed in a parachute type harness attached to an overhead bar and positioned over a treadmill. Once the treadmill begins moving, therapists help individuals move their legs in a way that optimizes sensory inputs. This process helps individuals with certain types of neurologic dysfunction enhance their locomotor skills and, eventually, walking ability. In addition to the Body Weight Support Treadmill system with manual assistance, the Locomotor Training Program consists of overground walking training (facilitated walking on a regular surface), and community ambulation training using everyday functional skills (walking, transfers, selfcare activities, etc.).
Melissa, we love you!  Continue your fight, never give up.  Remember, SOMEONE is holding your hand!
